Turquoise
About turquoise
Turquoise (Firoza) is a natural opaque stone in sky blue to green, prized for thousands of years across Persia, Tibet and the Americas. In Vedic astrology it is worn for Guru (Jupiter) as an alternative to Yellow Sapphire, and in many traditions it is worn for protection on travel. Every Firoza here is natural, certified and priced per ratti.
Iranian and Tibetan Firoza
Iranian (Persian) turquoise is the most valued — an even sky blue with little or no matrix. Tibetan material runs greener and shows a spiderweb of dark matrix veins, which many buyers prefer for its character. Both are stocked here, with origin stated on the listing.
Turquoise FAQ
Answers to the questions our customers ask us most
How do I know my turquoise is natural?
Most inexpensive turquoise on the market is stabilised, reconstituted or dyed howlite. A laboratory report is the only dependable check, and every stone in this collection carries one with its treatment stated.
How many ratti Firoza should I wear?
Commonly 5 to 12 ratti for adults, subject to your astrologer's reading.
How should I care for turquoise?
Turquoise is porous and relatively soft. Keep it away from perfume, oils, soap and prolonged sunlight, and wipe it with a dry soft cloth rather than washing it.
Which day, finger and metal?
Traditionally set in gold, silver or panchdhatu and worn on the index finger of the working hand, first worn on a Thursday morning after energising.
