Garnet
About garnet
Garnet is a natural silicate in deep wine to blood red, and one of the most widely used substitutes for both Ruby (Manik) and Red Coral (Moonga). It is associated with Surya (the Sun) and Mangal (Mars), and worn for energy, drive and confidence. Every Garnet here is 100% natural, certified and priced per ratti.
Why Garnet
A fine Burmese ruby is out of reach for most buyers. Garnet gives a genuinely natural red stone, hard enough for daily wear, at a small fraction of the price — and in the larger weights Vedic practice often prescribes for substitute stones. Note that Hessonite (Gomed) is also a garnet, but a different variety with a different astrological use.
Garnet FAQ
Answers to the questions our customers ask us most
How many ratti Garnet should I wear?
As a substitute stone, commonly 6 to 12 ratti for adults, subject to your astrologer's reading.
Is Garnet the same as Ruby?
No. Ruby is a corundum, harder, rarer and far more expensive; garnet is a separate mineral family. Both are red, which is why garnet is sometimes sold dishonestly as ruby — the certificate on every listing here states the species.
