Tanzanite Stone
About tanzanite stone
Tanzanite is a natural zoisite found in exactly one place on earth — the Merelani Hills of northern Tanzania, in a deposit a few kilometres long. Discovered only in 1967, it shows a striking violet-blue that shifts towards purple as the stone turns. Every Tanzanite here is natural, certified and priced per ratti.
Why Tanzanite is collected
Single-source gemstones are rare, and the Merelani deposit is finite. That scarcity, combined with a colour no other stone quite matches, is why tanzanite has moved from curiosity to serious collector stone within one generation. It is also worn as a modern alternative to Blue Sapphire for those drawn to its violet cast.
Tanzanite FAQ
Answers to the questions our customers ask us most
Is tanzanite heat treated?
Almost all tanzanite is heated to bring out the blue-violet from its natural brownish rough. This is standard, permanent and accepted throughout the trade — and it is stated on every certificate here.
How should I care for it?
Tanzanite is softer than sapphire and sensitive to knocks and sudden temperature change. Prefer pendants and earrings for daily wear, and never use an ultrasonic cleaner.
