Peridot
About peridot
Peridot is a natural olivine in a bright, unmistakable olive to lime green — one of very few gemstones that occurs in only one colour. In Vedic practice it is used as a stone for Budh (Mercury), an accepted alternative to Emerald (Panna), and is associated with clear thinking, communication and lightness of mood. Every Peridot here is natural, certified and priced per ratti.
What decides Peridot value
Colour first — a rich, pure green without a brown or yellow cast is most valued, and larger stones tend to show it best. Clarity and cut quality follow. Burmese and Pakistani (Kashmir region) peridot is historically the most prized.
Peridot FAQ
Answers to the questions our customers ask us most
How many ratti Peridot should I wear?
As a Mercury substitute it is worn heavier than Panna, commonly 5 to 10 ratti, subject to your astrologer's reading.
How should I care for it?
Peridot is softer than sapphire and sensitive to sudden temperature change and acids. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners; a soft damp cloth is enough.
