Pearl
About pearl
Pearl (Moti) is the gemstone of Chandra (the Moon) and one of the nine Navratna. It is organic rather than mineral, formed inside a living mollusc, and is traditionally worn on the little finger in silver. In Vedic practice it is associated with calm, emotional steadiness, sleep and a settled mind. Every Moti in this collection is natural and certified, photographed as it is, and priced per ratti.
Why buy Moti from Tushar Gems
- Basra and South Sea varieties — from classic small Hyderabadi Basra pearls to large Australian South Sea pearls.
- Certified stones with laboratory reports, so you know whether a pearl is natural or cultured before you pay for it.
- Real photographs of the exact pearl, with lustre and surface visible rather than retouched away.
- A gem house since 1998, disclosing origin and treatment on every listing.
- Free gemstone recommendation before you buy.
What decides Pearl price
Moti is priced per ratti, and value follows lustre (the deep inner glow is the single most important factor), surface cleanliness (fewer pits and blemishes), shape (perfectly round pearls are rarest), size and origin. Natural Basra pearls are far scarcer than cultured South Sea pearls and priced accordingly. Very cheap pearls are usually shell-bead imitations — a laboratory report is the only reliable check, and every pearl here carries one.
Pearl (Moti) FAQ
Answers to the questions our customers ask us most
How many ratti Moti should I wear?
Pearl is generally worn in a heavier weight than mineral stones, commonly 5 to 11 ratti for adults. Follow your astrologer's reading where you have one, and our team will match a certified pearl to it.
Who should wear Pearl?
Moti is generally recommended for Kark (Cancer) ascendants and during a Moon mahadasha. It is also traditionally worn by those seeking mental calm, better sleep or relief from restlessness.
Is Moonstone a substitute for Pearl?
Yes. Moonstone (Chandrakant Mani) is the most widely accepted substitute for Moti, with a similar soft sheen and a far gentler price.
Which day, finger and metal for Moti?
Traditionally set in silver and worn on the little finger of the working hand, first worn on a Monday evening after the ring has been energised.
