Cat's Eye
About cat's eye
Cat's Eye (Lehsunia) is the gemstone of Ketu, the south lunar node, and the ninth of the Navratna. It is a natural chrysoberyl showing chatoyancy — a sharp band of light that slides across the dome like the slit of a cat's eye — and is traditionally worn on the middle finger in silver or panchdhatu. Every Lehsunia here is 100% natural, government lab certified and priced per ratti.
Why buy Lehsunia from Tushar Gems
- Sharp, centred chatoyant band — the single quality that separates a fine cat's eye from an ordinary one, and the thing we photograph most carefully.
- Certified by government-approved laboratories, with the report number in the product title.
- Real photographs of the exact stone under consistent lighting, so the eye you see is the eye you get.
- A gem house since 1998, with origin and treatment disclosed.
- Free gemstone recommendation before you buy.
What decides Cat's Eye price
Lehsunia is priced per ratti, and value is driven above all by the eye: it should be a single, sharp, bright line running dead centre across the dome and opening and closing cleanly as the stone is rocked. After that come body colour (honey and greenish-yellow are most valued), transparency, dome symmetry and size. Note that chrysoberyl cat's eye is quite different from the far cheaper quartz cat's eye and tiger's eye sold under similar names — the certificate tells you which you are buying.
Cat's Eye (Lehsunia) FAQ
Answers to the questions our customers ask us most
How many ratti Lehsunia should I wear?
Commonly 5 to 7 ratti for adults, subject to your astrologer's reading. Our team can help you find a certified stone at the weight recommended to you.
Who should wear Cat's Eye?
Lehsunia is generally recommended during a Ketu mahadasha or antardasha. It is considered a strong stone, so a trial period of a few days before wearing it permanently is traditionally advised.
What is the difference between chrysoberyl and quartz cat's eye?
Chrysoberyl cat's eye is the true Lehsunia of Vedic astrology — harder, rarer and considerably more expensive. Quartz cat's eye and tiger's eye show a similar effect at a fraction of the price but are different minerals. Every listing here states the species on its certificate.
Which day, finger and metal for Lehsunia?
Traditionally set in silver or panchdhatu and worn on the middle finger of the working hand, first worn on a Tuesday or Thursday evening after energising.
