Delhi NCR has no shortage of places selling gemstones. Karol Bagh, Chandni Chowk, Gurugram's malls, dozens of websites, and an astrologer in almost every neighbourhood who also happens to keep stock.

That abundance is exactly the problem. When every shop says "100% original", the word stops meaning anything. Here is a practical way to choose where to buy — whether or not you end up at our counter.

Six checks before you hand over money

Independent certification. The report should come from a recognised laboratory such as IIGJ or GII — not from the shop's own letterhead — and carry a report number you can verify online.
The treatment line is filled in. Not blank, not "premium quality". For astrological wear you want natural and untreated stated in words.
They ask for your birth details before recommending. A seller who recommends a stone without a chart is selling inventory, not advice.
A physical store you can return to. Resizing, prong checks and re-certification all need somewhere to go back to.
Price explained, not just quoted. A good seller can tell you why this stone costs what it does — colour, clarity, origin, treatment, weight.
No urgency. "Only today", "last piece", "the muhurat is ending" — a stone you wear for decades deserves a decision that can wait a day.

Where people usually look in NCR

Traditional markets such as Karol Bagh and Chandni Chowk have deep stock and long-standing family businesses. Prices can be excellent. You need to know what you are looking at, or take someone who does.

Mall and high-street showrooms offer a calmer experience, clearer billing and easier after-sales service, usually at somewhat higher prices.

Astrologer-linked sellers are convenient, but be cautious when the person reading your chart is also the person selling the remedy. Getting the reading and the stone from two independent places protects you.

Online sellers range from excellent to entirely fictional. Buy online only with a verifiable lab report, a clear policy on returns or exchange, and a real address behind the website.

Questions worth asking out loud

Which laboratory certified this, and can I see the report before paying?
Is the stone heated, oiled, filled or dyed?
What is the origin, and does the certificate say so?
Is the weight quoted in ratti or carat?
Will the ring be open-backed?
What is your policy if I get the stone independently tested?
