About ruby

Ruby (Manik) is the gemstone of Surya (the Sun) and the leading stone of the Navratna. A natural red corundum, it is traditionally worn on the ring finger in gold or copper and is associated with authority, confidence, vitality and recognition. Every Manik in this collection is 100% natural, government lab certified, shown in a real photograph of the actual stone, and priced per ratti.

What decides Ruby price in India

Manik is priced per ratti. The rate is driven by colour (the deep pigeon-blood red is the most valuable, followed by pinkish and purplish reds), clarity, origin (Burmese material is historically the most prized, followed by Mozambique and Thai) and treatment (unheated rubies are rare and priced accordingly; standard heat treatment is common and accepted). Weight alone never decides value — a small, clean, richly coloured ruby will outprice a large dull one.

Ruby (Manik) FAQ

Answers to the questions our customers ask us most

How many ratti Ruby should I wear?

The common guideline is one ratti per twelve kilograms of body weight, which places most adults between 3 and 6 ratti. Where you have an astrologer's specific recommendation, follow it — we will help you find a certified stone at that weight.

Who should wear Manik?

Ruby is generally recommended for Singh (Leo) ascendants and during a Sun mahadasha. It is traditionally worn by those in leadership, administration, government service or public-facing roles.

Which day, finger and metal for Ruby?

Traditionally set in gold or copper and worn on the ring finger of the working hand, first worn at sunrise on a Sunday after the ring has been energised.

What is a good substitute for Ruby?

Red Garnet and red spinel are the usual substitutes when a fine ruby is out of budget. They are accepted in Vedic practice as Sun-related stones.
